I have six years of experience in teaching workshops to a variety of age-groups. I specialise in comic-making and creative writing workshops. I can tailor workshops to specific needs, ages, and groups. Please feel free to contact me with any queries, or to discuss rates.

Kids Comic Making Workshops
St Anthonys Primary School, Ballinlough / Nov – Dec 2021
Conducted weekly after school, these workshops introducted the children to the basics of illustration and storytelling. They explored how to create characters, generate ideas and tell stories in a fun, and imaginative way.

Kids Comic Making Workshops (Dragon of Shandon program)
Cork Community Art Link / Sep – Oct 2021
Six week introductory course, covering all the basics of making a comic. The workshops were conducted with artist Podge Daly.
As part of the course, each participant created a two page comic. All these stories were collected and published in a zine format comic book. The comic was handed out on Halloween night as part of the Dragon of Shandon program. Artwork from each story was also displayed on billboards around the city.

Adult Comic Making Workshops

Zine Making and Foldover Comics
Cork City Libraries / Jul 2021 (Summer Arts Program)
These two one-off workshops were delivered over Zoom, and were designed to be short introductory sessions that would allow participants to continue creating zines and comics after the workshop was completed.

Creative Writing for Teens
Cork City Libraries / Jul – Aug 2021 (Summer Arts Program)
A six week creattive writing course for teenagers. The course was delivered over Zoom to 8 participants. Each week, assignments were given, which helped to assess participants skills, and focus the workshop on improving the writing of each individual participant.

Prose in a Time of Pandemic
Cork County Library / Feb – April 2021
A ten week creattive writing course for teenagers. The course aimed to be a complete introduction to creative writing, covering all key areas, but always focused on the idea of ‘Write What You Know’. This focus was to encourate creativity, and self-expression amongst the participants, and to allow them to bring their own backgrounds and lives into their writing.

My Life in Strips
West Cork Literary/Read On Initiative / Feb/Mar 2021
My Life in Strips is an annual comic-making projects aimed at teenagers. After a series of writing and art workshops, the participants produce their own four page comics.
The workshops were conducted online, in conjunction with illustrator Mari Rolin.

Creative Writing for Teens
Cork City Library / July 2020
A course consisting of four workshop to help teens improve their creative writing skills. The course covered character, conflict, theme, and description. The videos were pre-recorded, but included assignments and activities.

Comic-making Hothouse
The Nerve Centre / July 2020
A week long comic-making course for teens, facilitated with artist Fiona Boniwell. The course consisted of five workshops, and culminated in each participant completing a one page comic.
The workshops were conducted online.

A seven part workshop that featured creative writing, comic-making, zine-making. I facilitated two workshops that focused on adaptation and lettering as story-telling in comics. The workshops were conducted online

7 week creative writing course with transition year students.

Teen Graphic Novel Project (2016-2020)
Cork City Library
A series of workshops on making comics. Students’ stories are published in an annual graphic novel launched during Cork World Book Week. The workshops are run in conjunction with artist Alan Corbett.

Comic-making Workshops
Cork Community Art Link. (2018, 2020)
An 11 week course aimed at 11-14 year olds. The workshops run in conjunction with artist Podge Daly. At the end of the course, the students’ work is published in a ‘zine style anthology.

Comics: More than just Capes
Kinsale Literary Festival (2019)
A two hour workshop exploring how to tell stories using comics.

Comic-making Workshops
Cork County Arts Office (2017)
Hour-long workshops for 5/6th class students on making comics, run in conjunction with artist Fiona Boniwell. The project was part of the ‘Making Comics’ art exhibition in Cork County Hall. The workshops ran over two weeks.
