Teen Graphic Novel 2021 (Cork City Libraries)
I was the story editor for this book, and ran a series of workshops with the participants.
This project is run by Cork City Libraries in order to get teenagers involved in the creation process of a comic. I was the story editor on this graphic novel. I reviewed story submissions, and after selecting entrants, ran a series of workshops to develop their story ideas into full comic book scripts. Those scripts were then paired with artists, under guidance from art editor Alan Corbett, and comic stories from 4-6 pages in length were produced. Myself and Alan Corbett then produced the book to a professional standard, and it was launched during Cork World Book Festival.

Lost on the Water
River Lee Stories issue 2. An anthology of three stories centred around Cork, and the River Lee. The central story follows an explorer as he ventures into The Gearagh in search of the lost city of Anaheim. Two back up stories are also included. ‘One-Eyed Liar’ spins a wonderful tale of Cork’s past, and the historic Shandon Bell Tower. ‘Cork 2072’, on the other hand, is set in a haunting, drowned future of the city of Cork, where answer from the past are sought.

Dem Bones – Part 2 (Two Pugs Publishing)
The follow up to Dem Bones Part 1 (obviously enough), concluding the first of Bo & Sam’s adventures, wherein they battle great evils ranging from demons to the bureaucracy of a government agency. It is an outlandish mix of humour, horror, crime, and capers, with exceptional artwork by Fiona Boniwell, that brilliantly balances the drama and humour of the book.

Soma: Eden (Two Pugs Publishing)
Editing work on this book was shared by myself and Ciarán Marcantonio. It is one-shot sci-fi comic, and the first publication from Two Pugs Publishing. Soma: Eden is an imaginative and gripping story, but it was the strong theme, and powerful emotional weight of Ray’s writing that drew me to the project. Michael’s artwork provided a wonderful retro feel, and did justice to the power of the story.

After initially consulting on the script, I was brought on board as full time editor, working with all members of the creative team, during all stages of the book’s production.

A Teenager/Child’s Guide to Brain Injury (Headway Ireland)
I worked as project editor on this book.
It is an illustrated guide produced to help children/teenagers understand acquired brain injury. The book was commissioned by Headway Ireland, to fulfil a perceived gap in their services. While Headway deals directly with those suffering from ABI, they are unable to offer sufficient support to the families of those afflicted, particularly children. The text was written by Headway Client Officer Paula Larkin. I worked with her to produce two version of the text – one suitable for children, the other for teenagers. I then commissioned artists Fiona Boniwell and Hayley Mulcahy to illustrate both texts in a manner suited to their respective audiences.
